“Love of learning is the guide to life” is the motto of Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most prestigious honors society in the United States. Formed in 1776, its mission is to foster and recognize excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. The Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, which began at Rutgers in 1869, inducted eleven Learning Assistants as new members on Sunday April 23rd, with Dr. Ben Sifuentes-Jáuregui, Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Academic Affairs, presiding over the ceremony. These eleven new members join the five Learning Assistants who were elected to this society last year.

To be eligible for Phi Beta Kappa, juniors or seniors must be proficient in a foreign language, have earned a high GPA, and be pursuing a liberal arts major. Congratulations to the Learning Assistants who are now the newest members of Phi Beta Kappa!
