Bishop House is a part of both the New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places. Erected in 1852, it once belonged to James Bishop, a merchant specializing in the rubber trade.
All professors on the Rutgers New Brunswick and Piscataway campuses who are teaching courses for undergraduate students may apply for Education Enrichment funding. Please see the For Faculty page for more information.
All applications are reviewed weekly during the academic year by a faculty review board. Applications are evaluated on their merit and level of enrichment for undergraduate students.
Educational Enrichment can support transportation and entrance fees for local field trips and speaker fees including honorarium, travel, and lodging.
We do not provide funding support for graduate classes, faculty research, activities that occur outside the academic year, or activities not designed for undergraduate students. Undergraduate students who are presenting research at a conference may consider applying to the Aresty Research Center for conference funding support.
We understand that student rosters fluctuate during the first few weeks of the semester. We will support all students who are currently registered for your class at the time of the field trip.
Typically, for each semester, we will consider the support of up to 2 enrichment activities per instructor per course.
$250.00 is a fair payment to offer a speaker for a lecture during an 80-minute class period.
Speakers are responsible for reserving their own transportation and lodging arrangements. There are three local hotels - The Heldrich Hotel and the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick located in downtown New Brunswick and the University Inn and Conference Center located on the Cook/Douglass campus.
$1000.00 is a fair estimate for bus transportation for a day trip to New York City. A bus can accommodate 54 passengers. Smaller groups consisting of less than 30 passengers may apply for NJ Transit tickets.
A round-trip train ticket from New Brunswick to New York Penn Station is $28.00 per person.
It’s best to arrange a time with Cara Macaluso to pick up tickets.
